Rotary is an organization renown throughout the world. Locally it began in 1929, to promote service to the community. This chapter does just that by raising money to donate to scholarships and other community needs. Each year they hold a spaghetti dinner, pancake breakfast and annual Christmas tree sales. They sponsor Boy Scout Troop 1 Katonah, as well as Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops. There are no requirements for joining, but they do attempt to attract individuals of different occupations, who have an interest in public service. Dinner meetings are held at the Katonah Memorial House every Tuesday from 6:15 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., with a speaker each week. The present membership is 27, and both men and women may join. In the past, as community projects the group has built a shelter in the Town Park, purchased new indoor lighting for the library, and replaced a tree on the library grounds.
