Katonah Historical Museum

Katonah's Historical Museum was founded in 1984 by a group of local citizens interested in discovering more about Katonah's illustrious past and protecting its history, artifacts and photographic memories for generations yet to come. The museum is located under the cupola at the Katonah Village Library, and it is a delight to climb the narrow spiral staircase to the museum's center. The group tries to provide two displays a year that delve into some aspect of Katonah's history .Currently undergoing reorganization, the museum may not have an exhibit prepared for showing at this time, so call the library for information. Some of the past exhibits have focused on historic churches, volunteer fire fighting, costumes, and stained glass windows in historic homes of the village. One of the museums most exciting possessions is a wedding quilt dated 1854, which was recently found in Arizona. It is believed to have made its way across the country with the westward expansion and is embroidered with the names of many old Katonah families. It has been lovingly restored and protected to last well into the future. If you care to volunteer so the museum can continue to provide these fascinating exhibits, please call the number listed above.
