Katonah's Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1874. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the firehouse located on Bedford Road. All regular members may attend. To join the fire fighters you must live in the Katonah Fire District or close vicinity for 6 months prior to applying for membership. These volunteers try constantly to promote fire safety and awareness. Each year in June, the Fireman's Parade is held, and it is followed by a 3-day carnival on the grounds of the firehouse. A raffle is held in conjunction with this event with $2,000 in cash as the first prize. In November a chili supper is organized, which is open to the public.
