Katonah/Bedford Hills
Volunteer Ambulance Corps

Ann Praino
P.O. Box 43
Katonah, NY 10536

With the donation of a 1947 Cadillac ambulance by the Katonah Fire Department, the Corps became a functioning entity, which answered 16 calls that first year. A new ambulance was purchased about 20 years later and for some time was housed in the Ruger's barn. Property was purchased in 1967 and the current building was erected in 1987. The name of the group became officially the Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps in 1980. They now handle over 600 emergency calls per year. To join this group, you must be at least 16 years old, live in the Katonah-Bedford Hills area and become certified in CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) within 6 months of joining the Corps. They have monthly meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and training on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Meetings are held right at Corps headquarters at 160 Bedford Rd. in Katonah. The Corps is in great need of help for the daytime hours. They are also willing to provide a CPR course free of charge to either an individual or group.
