Bedford Hills Community House

Liz Bailey
7 Church St.
Bedford Hills, NY 10507

Built in 1919, as a memorial to war veterans and a meeting place for the community, the Bedford Hills Community House has stood the test of time. Located on the comer of Bedford Rd. and Church St., it has filled the needs for people of this area over these many years. In the early days it was used for potluck suppers, theater productions, and there was even a gym in the basement for sports activities. It was considered unusual for its time. In recent years a wide variety of programs were held there such as Square Dances, Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings, Exercise Classes, Irish Dancing, Yoga and many more. The Bedford Hills Lions Club and The Bedford Hill Woman's Club hold their meetings here. The constant goal of the Community House Board has been to maintain the property and keep it, for future generations, the unique and special facility it is now. The town of Bedford acquired this property, and it is soon to be renovated.
